Although the inflation rate has declined slightly, its pace of reduction remains slow, while wage growth has remained stagnant — creating significant challenges for the new government, according to the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).
CPD stressed the urgent need to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities in the market in order to stabilise prices and protect consumers.
The organisation also called for ensuring transparency in the banking sector and safeguarding the independence of the central bank. It urged the implementation of proposed amendments to the Bangladesh Bank Ordinance to reduce loan defaults and strengthen financial discipline.
Regarding LDC graduation, CPD stated that rather than debating whether the graduation should be postponed, it is more important to take adequate preparation for the transition. The organisation called for strong and decisive steps to implement a smooth transition strategy.
