The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,136 cases against vehicles for violating traffic laws during a special drive conducted across different areas of the capital.
According to DMP traffic sources, the drive was carried out on Monday (March 2) in several traffic divisions of Dhaka. In the Ramna Traffic Division, a total of 70 cases were filed involving nine buses, four covered vans, eight CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 15 motorcycles.
In the Lalbagh Traffic Division, 178 cases were recorded against 17 buses, 14 trucks, four covered vans, six CNG auto-rickshaws and five motorcycles. The Motijheel Traffic Division filed 78 cases, including four buses, one truck, eight covered vans, nine CNG auto-rickshaws and 44 motorcycles.
Meanwhile, the Wari Traffic Division recorded 158 cases involving 18 buses, 30 trucks, 23 covered vans, nine CNG auto-rickshaws and 49 motorcycles. The Tejgaon Traffic Division filed 109 cases against 14 buses, three trucks, seven covered vans, 15 CNG auto-rickshaws and 40 motorcycles.
The Mirpur Traffic Division registered 145 cases involving 14 buses, five trucks, nine covered vans, 19 CNG auto-rickshaws and 66 motorcycles. In the Uttara Traffic Division, the highest number of cases—277—were filed against 31 buses, 15 trucks, 19 covered vans, 45 CNG auto-rickshaws and 91 motorcycles.
Additionally, the Gulshan Traffic Division filed 191 cases involving 14 buses, three trucks, six covered vans, nine CNG auto-rickshaws and 67 motorcycles.
During the operation, authorities also dumped 420 vehicles and towed 270 others for various violations. DMP officials said such drives will continue to ensure traffic discipline across the capital.
