A United Nations investigation has concluded that Israel committed acts of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. The UN Commission of Inquiry stated that there are reasonable grounds to believe that four out of the five acts defined as genocide under international law were carried out by Israel since the war with Hamas began in 2023.
According to the report, these acts include:
Killing members of a group
Inflicting serious bodily and mental harm
Deliberately creating conditions of life intended to destroy the group
Preventing births within the group
The commission pointed to statements by Israeli leaders and patterns of conduct by Israeli forces as evidence of genocidal intent.
In response, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed the findings, calling the report “distorted and false.”
