H.E. Mr. Mikhail Kasko, Non-resident Ambassador of Belarus to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Shama Obaed Islam, MP, Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kasko congratulated the State Minister on assuming office and conveyed the readiness of the Government of Belarus to work closely with the new Government of Bangladesh.
Welcoming the Ambassador, State Minister Shama Obaed Islam expressed Bangladesh’s willingness to strengthen the existing friendly relations with Belarus through enhanced cooperation and mutual engagement.
Both sides held productive discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation in several key sectors, including agriculture, defence, textiles and ready-made garments (RMG), skilled and semi-skilled labour migration, information technology, pharmaceuticals, and jute.
They also underscored the importance of strengthening people-to-people contacts to reinforce the foundation of bilateral relations.
The two sides agreed that bilateral mechanisms, including Foreign Office Consultations, should be convened more frequently to accelerate discussions and advance cooperation in priority areas.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing satisfaction over the warm and cordial exchanges and reaffirming their shared commitment to further deepen and broaden Bangladesh-Belarus relations in the years ahead.
