U.S. Ambassador Brent Christensen met with Bangladesh's Minister of Cultural Affairs, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, to mark a new phase of bilateral cooperation aimed at preserving America's architectural legacy in Bangladesh.
As part of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) is providing a grant of $235,000 to support the preservation initiative.
During the meeting, Ambassador Christensen and Minister Chowdhury discussed the importance of cultural heritage preservation and the role such projects play in strengthening people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and the United States.
The grant will help protect and conserve historic architectural sites linked to the American presence in Bangladesh, ensuring their preservation for future generations. The initiative reflects the shared commitment of both countries to safeguarding cultural heritage and promoting international cultural cooperation.
Officials said the project underscores the enduring partnership between Bangladesh and the United States and highlights the value of preserving historic landmarks as symbols of shared history and friendship.
