Time Television has given journalist Mynul Islam a special award for his contribution to journalism among the Bangladeshi diaspora. He received the honor at a program marking the channel's 12th founding anniversary.

U.S. Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, the House Minority Leader, who represents New York's 8th Congressional District, attended the event along with community leaders and guests. Abu Taher presented the award on behalf of Time Television.
Mynul Islam started his career in 2009 as a reporter at Ekushey Television (ETV). He was promoted to Staff Reporter in 2015. In 2016 he joined Gazi Satellite Television (GTV) as a Staff Reporter, and in 2023 he took on the role of Assignment Editor there. At GTV he monitored and evaluated the reporting team's work. He also supervised intern reporters and gave recommendations on who should be hired.

From 2014 to 2023, he taught journalism part-time at BIJAM, using a curriculum he developed himself. Many of his former students now work as journalists at media outlets in Bangladesh.
He now serves as Special Correspondent and Anchor for Channel i USA and as Business Development Coordinator for Channel i. He is also International Affairs Secretary of the International Relations Reporters Forum, Bangladesh.

In New York, he is the publisher and editor of The Bangla Hour and Executive Editor of BanglaHour.com. He also serves as CEO and Head of News of BHTV. Through these outlets he reports on Bangladeshi Americans, community and cultural events, and news from both Bangladesh and the United States.

He is a member of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), the Broadcast Journalist Center (BJC), and Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB), a group that works on the professional development of technology journalists.
Mynul Islam has covered the United Nations General Assembly several times. He reported live from New York on UN proceedings in 2019, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. He has also covered World Bank and BIMSTEC events and other international meetings. In 2026, he worked as a FIFA Accreditation Volunteer, handling media accreditation work connected to the FIFA World Cup.

His work has earned him several awards: the Ekushey Television Best Reporting Award in 2014, the GTV Award in 2019, the VTVUS Award in 2025 and the Channel i Award in 2026. Earlier this month, the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) honored him at the Gala Night and Opening Ceremony of its 40th Convention in Kissimmee, Florida, for his journalism and his coverage of the Bangladeshi community in North America. The Time Television award follows that recognition.

After receiving the award, Mynul Islam said that journalism abroad is about more than delivering news. A journalist working in the diaspora, he said, has a duty to tell the stories of expatriate Bangladeshis, raise Bangladesh's issues on the international stage, and keep information flowing between the diaspora and home. He said he would keep doing that work.
